Masala Dal - Lentils with spices
Serves 6 in about 1 hour
1 jar Madras Masala Curry
1 ½ lb yellow split peas
Follow directions on package to cook yellow split peas. Otherwise, rinse lentils thoroughly and remove any stones/dirt that may be present. Add 5 cups water, salt to taste ( about 1 tsp) and cook in microwave-safe bowl until done for about 30 minutes (Lentils are tender and soft, when pressed between your fingertips). Pour Madras Masala Curry in a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer on medium heat. Add the cooked lentil and stir. Taste and add salt if necessary. Bring to a boil. Serve with rice or bread.
